Hi! I'm Joshua, the creator of Match Simulator.

What started as a hobby project in March 2019 has grown into something much bigger, with over 100 million matches simulated to date. This is now the third version of the website, and it’s an ongoing project that we continue to improve.

One more thing can you add more types of goals in commentary like header, tap in, Bicycle kick, solo goal, volley, long shot, etc?

Can you add possesion and also can you add tactics like counter attack park the bus gengen pressing and can you add host nations which get hoem advantage every game?

Hmm, no. Not sure if you are serious, but there is no bias in the game. And if you are unhappy about the strength of a team, you can always tune it up or down with a customization pack.

Sorry, one last thing will you be adding different pay methods for premium because as of right now i feel like it takes a lot to get when we could just do a normal 'appstore' purchase that is easier.

Hmm, sorry you feel that way... I believe there are a lot of payment methoda available already, I cant really add any more. 

The subscription method we have allows us to easily make the subscription available for the entire world, without having to deal with separate taxes etc for different countries. This significantly reduces the time needed for accounting, so thats why we have this. A normal 'appstore' purchase would mean yet another payment system + all the downsides of that in terms of accounting and fees, so that's not really an option.

If you need help, please let me know, I'll see if I can simplify things 

Also, Joshua i was going to ask a question, will there be a premium feature or just a general feature that means we can choose how many goals each team scores in that game pre-match and then the AI will automatically decide who scores the goals. Thanks in advance 👍

Not sure about what you're saying yet, but maybe. At least I have planned a feature for premium where you can manually enter the result and I always planned that you could choose the match events etc yourself, but your idea sounds cool too

The formation of tactics isn't being implemented in match

So there are 3 ways to use them:

 

1. In Quick match, open the Match Settings. There, switch the option for Lineups from default to custom. Then click the Edit line-ups button. You will now go to a pre-match view where you can modify the lineups. In the tactics box, you will see a dropdown where you can select a preset tactics. Choose that and click load, your tactics will be selected.

 

2a. In a cup, next to a match on the right there is a pencil-like button. Click it to go to the same screen as described in 1.

 

2b. In a cup, you can also set your tactics as default so you dont have to select it every time. For this, click the Team Management button, select the team and then the tactics. Now they will use that tactic for every match in the cup.

Can you add an option that allow us to choose the freequency of upsets or the amount of goals scored.

An upset mode is one of the plans for premium

How to add friends, as it asks to add someone in friend list, before giving them permissions to edit pack or cups

Go to their profile and click add friend.

For example, click on my name or avatar and you'll see my profile.

If you cant find your friends' profile, ask him to click the avatar top right > my profile > share and copy that link. Or send him your profile so he can add you. The friend request will show up in the notifications.

Will there be a feature that allows users to manually input results into a league or cup?

 

With the 2026/27 update not expected until late September, it will be around six weeks into the season. For users who want to simulate a league in real time from the opening fixtures, it would be much easier to continue using the 2025/26 database (with summer transfer mods) and manually enter results until the new update is released, while still playing the same league.

Yes, I do have plans for such a feature, but it would become a premium feature. And no clue when it would be added.

Hello, I created many lineups for my created teams, but how can I choose which one i will use in a game? Thanks!

So there are 3 ways to use them:

Hi, guys! I announce that I put every Portuguese team in Match Simulator, from D2 to D4 (national divisions) and from D5 to D6 (my regional division, AF Leiria).

I completed the customization packs today and I started on 27th November (yes, it took me loads of time).

The cup presets will be ready in less than an hour.

Um are you going to add set pen taker and show a mark if the goal was score by a free kick or something?

Roles like that are planned.
Free kicks are not in the engine right now and no concrete plans to add it.

I know New Caledonia can use the French flag, but can you change it to the Kanak flag, to easily tell the difference between them 🇫🇷🇳🇨. Same with the French Guyana 🇫🇷🇬🇾

Hey Joshua, could you add a cup format like in the old Europa Leagues?

You mean a group + knockout? You can already do that. If you mean where teams from the CL flow into the EL, no thats too complicated

i know this is the 598375 time ive said this but please somebody fix barcelona in this thing, real life beating madrid in matchsim getting beaten by psv :( like barca is getting relegated from la liga in this thing

... why dont you just change it yourself in a customization pack? The main database is not going to be changed

I like the visual lineups, I hope in the future, that we will get the actual kits from the previous seasons. but they can't be exactly like the ones in real life, due to copyright.

There is a small chance the actual kits will be added, but it has low priority. 

I was expecing that. Maybe their is a possibilty that the stripped club crests will have stripped kits on the visual lineups. But it is probably not the highest piority because I know you have been working a lot on updates. And don't get me wrong, I would be stressed out too if I have been doing something like this.

With the visual lineups feature can you make it so the players move by passing shoots fouls, and the formation you use effects how the match is played and this would show what team has more possesion.

Hi Joshua, I love this website (I'll never get tired of saying it). I had an idea and wanted to suggest it to you. Imagine you put a box below the match summary, showing how the players move (in 2D), so you can see who has the ball, if they pass it, or if they lose it. This would be an optional feature, because if you want to see it as I described, you just click on the box and it enlarges. If you don't prefer that and want to see the match normally (with text and everything), you don't open it. Do you understand what I mean? Thanks

Thanks! I get that you (and a lot of others) want this, but is simply not how the match engine works. A visual layer over that would basically mean starting from scratch. Maybe in the far, far future something like this could be added, but right now I have to disappoint you. 

Yo Joshua I know you put a lot of thought and work into this game. Ever since i found this game last year i have been addicted to it and thank you for making it for us to play, and i have simple request that i recommend you should add to the game to attract more fans and people.

1. you should add a manager career mode where you can take control of a current team or create your own team and you earn money through home wins home draws home losses and vise versa and use that money to buy new players for your sqaud  ( here are the conversions. )

Home win = $5,000,000

home draw = $3,000,000

home loss = $1,000,000

away win = $2,500,000

away draw = $500,000

2. in the manager career made you should add a feature where you can create the jerseys and give players instructions and shirt #'s ( like #7 or #9 ).

3. On the lineup visiual, you should add player movement on the pitch ( if you can)

2. Customizing kits is not planned for now. Kit numbers aren't planned either. Instructions/advanced tactics are planned.

Hello, Joshua! I was trying to do a 54 team group and knock-out tournament and annoyed me the fact that 4 of the teams had to go to a play-off to advance to the group stage (4 teams each group). Suggestion: when that happens, we could have an option to do something like this - 48 teams in group of 4 and 6 teams in groups of 3, instead of 50 teams moving directly to the group stage and 4 teams going to play-off before the group stage.

That is too complicated to add with all the exceptions that there already are. But when creating the cup, it already clearly explains what will happen. So if you dont want that, why not do a separate tournament prior to your main so you end up with 48 teams instead of 54?

I get this question more often, but for the coming years I don't see this happen. That would be a too big step for just one developer. Besides, there is already FC and FM, so why compete with that if they have millions to put into their development
